Singlife Travel Insurance Singapore Review 2024
Best for: Loss of Frequent Flyer Points Coverage + Travel inconvenience/ Change of travelling date for any reason!
Known for their comprehensive coverage for a range of benefits, especially for medical expenses, Singlife Travel Insurance is great for those who worry about incurring high medical costs overseas.
When compared to other brands such as: HLAS which offers great all-round travel insurance, Ergo Travel Protect with its extensive coverage including sports & pet care, and Sompo, which has one of the best Japan travel insurance plans, Singlife is definitely on the pricier end but for good reason. With policies available in three types: Individual, Family, and Group, all policies except for the Group Policy can be purchased as Annual Multi-Trip Policies for frequent travelers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is it compulsory to get travel insurance?
Though most countries do not require travellers to purchase travel insurance, there are some countries that do. It's best to do your research before your trip.
Nevertheless, purchasing travel insurance is highly recommended as you'll get a peace of mind knowing that you're insured against any travel inconveniences that might affect your trip.
Whether your flight is delayed for many hours, your baggage gets stolen overseas, or you fall ill abroad, you'll be able to be financially compensated for with travel insurance.
Who is the best insurer to get travel insurance with?
There's no one-size-fits-all travel insurance plan for everyone. Every individual has different needs and priorities when it comes to travel coverage. Some may prioritise personal accident cover, while someone may want higher coverage for travel delays. An elderly who has pre-existing conditions will also priortise a plan that covers for that.
Because of the different needs, you'll need to find a travel insurance plan that is best suited for you.
How to buy travel insurance in Singapore?
You can easily apply for a travel insurance plan online on the insurer's website. Simply key in your personal particulars, when you'll be overseas, where you're going, choose the plan that you want and make payment.
You can also head to SingSaver's website to compare the coverage and costs of the insurers, and simply apply directly through our site.
What is usually covered by travel insurance?
Travel insurance plans usually include basic coverage like overseas medical expenses, personal accidents, accidental death and total permanent disability, travel cancellations, flight delays, baggage loss and baggage delay.
However, each travel insurance plan is different and offers different claim limits, which also depends on the tier of plan you purchase.
Other coverages that some insurers offer also include sports and adventure cover, rental fee excess, pre-existing conditions, rainfall cover, bridal accessories and even loss of frequent flyer points.
How late can you buy travel insurance?
There's no hard and fast rule for when is the latest you can buy your travel insurance, as you can literally purchase one right before you board the plan and still be covered.
However, the later you buy your travel insurance, the higher the chance of you not being able to claim for certain things like flight delay (if you buy your plan only before you board the plan), trip cancellation due to a family member or travel buddy falling critically ill, trip cancellation for any reason (offered by Singlife).
Can I claim for medical expenses in Singapore after returning from my trip?
Not all insurers offer that, so it's best to check the insurer's product brochure or policy wording before you purchase one.
Some insurers do let you claim for any medical expenses after returning to Singapore, if you incur the expense within a stipulated time period after you're back.
Do I need COVID-19 coverage?
Though COVID-19 isn't be affecting our lives much compared to how it used to, it is still recommended to get travel insurance that covers for COVID-19.
You'll have the peace of mind knowing that you are covered for any medical expenses due to COVID-19 when you're abroad, and you can also choose to shorten or postpone your trip if you or a travel buddy contracts COVID-19 right before your trip.
Can elderly above 70 years old and above purchase travel insurance?
It depends on the insurer. Some insurers only offer coverage for adults below 70 years old, while others do for seniors 70 and above.
However, do take note that the medical expenses coverage for seniors in that age range tend to be much lower than adults below 70, as they have a higher chance of falling ill.
