How to Pay Credit Card Bills From Another Bank
Updated: 18 Sept 2025

From air miles to reward points, credit cards offer a multitude of rewards. This may inspire some of us to make use of a whole army of credit cards to maximise the value of our spending. But rewards maxing comes with a downside — having to manage multiple credit card bills each month.
Juggling multiple credit card bills from various banks is no joke. You’ll need to manage several statements and pay each bill accordingly, and do so before their due date.Â
Fortunately, you can streamline the process by choosing to pay all your credit cards from one bank account. This works even with credit card bills issued by other banks.
Can you pay credit card bills from other banks?
Yes, you can. Credit card bills are no different from other bills that you encounter in daily life. There are several ways you can pay off your credit card bills.
To be sure, you do not need to have a separate account with the same bank that issued your credit card. Your credit card account will suffice.Â

How to pay credit card bills from different banks?
Let’s assume your main banking account is with DBS. You have balances on three credit cards — the DBS Altitude Card, the Standard Chartered Smart Card, and the American Express True Cashback Card.Â
Paying your DBS Altitude Card credit card bill is easy. You can look up your latest credit card statement by logging onto your digibank mobile app or digibank online account, and pay the outstanding amount listed there.
Now what about your other two credit cards? Do you have to log onto Standard Chartered Bank and American Express' online banking services or fire up their mobile apps? What if you don’t have bank accounts there, or if you’ve temporarily lost access to your mobile banking account?Â
Well, as it turns out, you don't have to worry. You can simply add both your credit cards as payees in your digibank mobile app. Once you’ve done so, you can make payments to both credit cards from your main DBS bank account.Â
Simply look up the respective credit card statement to pay the outstanding balance.
Why do people pay credit card bills from another bank?
The biggest reason would be convenience. Most people have a main bank account that their salary is credited into. This is also likely to be the same account that they use for paying bills, in order to make tracking their monthly expenditure easier.
The same logic applies when paying credit card bills from other banks. Using one account to pay for everything makes the process more convenient. It's important that you don’t miss out on paying any credit card bills, since late payments may incur hefty interest charges and fees.

Pros and cons of paying credit card bills from other banks
As explained earlier, the main advantage of paying your credit card bills with funds from your main bank account is convenience. You can pay multiple credit card bills at one go without having to log in to several internet banking accounts.Â
One potential disadvantage of paying your credit card bills this way is that the payment may take some time to clear. This means if you pay your credit card bill on the day it is due, your payment may not reach your credit card issuer in time.Â
To avoid incurring late charges and exorbitant interest rates, be sure to pay your credit card bills at least a week in advance.
