Having a golf club membership is not just a gateway to a healthy lifestyle. It's also a great avenue for forging strong social ties and building rewarding relationships in your network.

For a small land scarce city-country, it is somewhat surprising to learn that Singapore has dedicated 1500 hectares of land to 17 golf courses.

Considering that there may be some environmental benefit to maintaining golf courses, members could inadvertently be contributing to the country's biodiversity.

There are several benefits to joining a golf club in Singapore.

Apart from having a place to host social gatherings, it's also the perfect environment to ease off a hectic week. With blue skies, fresh air and a vast expanse of green before your eyes, it's hard to stay wound up while you focus on tee-off.

Golf club memberships are classified under three categories: local memberships for Singaporeans and permanent residents; foreign memberships for non-PR; and corporate memberships. Membership transfer listings are publicly available online.

When it comes to the most expensive country club to join in Singapore, it's a toss-up between Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore Island Country Club and Tanah Merah Country Club. Read on to find out more about their membership fees and benefits.

Sentosa Golf Club

Possibly one of the most sought-after memberships, golfers can tee off at not one but two award-winning courses, The Serapong and The Tanjong.

Sentosa Golf Club also recently became known as the world’s first carbon-neutral golf club.

This was after the Club offset 5,000 tonnes of CO2, the annual equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions from 12.4m miles driven by an average petrol powered car and CO2 emissions from 630 homes’ energy usage.

For newbie golfers, make a beeline for the Academy where you'll get support from experienced golfers to refine your technique and analysis via Trackman data.

You'll also receive a highly personalised fitting experience at the Titleist National Fitting Centre, which is nothing less than a state-of-the-art facility.

Food-wise, there's a host of fine-dining experiences waiting, from local favourites to Western and exquisite Japanese cuisine. Your taste buds will be spoilt for choice.
