There are those days when the sun is too inhumanely hot to dabao food, or days that are filled with back-to-back meetings that walking to the nearest kopitiam for your lunch is simply not possible.
That’s when food delivery becomes your saving grace if you’d rather pay a little more for the premium prices and delivery fees instead of cooking up a bowl of MSG-filled instant noodles.
Are you bogged down by the high prices? Fear not, as these credit cards can help to earn miles as you spend or offset your purchases with cashback. Find out which credit cards are most effective for each food delivery merchant — GrabFood, Foodpanda and Deliveroo.

For miles: UOB Lady’s Card / UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card
The UOB Lady’s and UOB Lady’s Solitaire Cards have been all the hype lately, and for good reason. Recently, UOB announced that they will have increased their miles rate from 10X UNI$ per S$5 (4mpd) to 15X UNI$ per S$5 (6mpd) on the category(ies) that you choose.
All other spend earns the base 1X UNI$ per S$5 (2 mpd). You’ll also earn the base rate once you hit the bonus rate spend cap.
UOB Lady’s Card — able to choose 1 category per quarter and has a bonus rate spend cap of S$1,000 per month
UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card — able to choose 2 categories per quarter and has a bonus rate spend cap of S$3,000 per month
Here are the categories offered for these cards:
- Beauty and Wellness — cosmetic stores, drug stores, health and beauty stores
- Fashion — department stores, retail stores and shopping websites that sell clothes, shoes and bags as its main business activity
- Dining — restaurants, fast food restaurants and online food delivery
- Family — grocery stores and baby & kids stores
- Travel — airlines, hotels & resorts bookings and duty-free stores
- Transport — fuel stations, taxi rides and local commuter transport
- Entertainment — bars, taverns, lounges, cinemas and ticketing servicing providers
Do note that these cards earn you miles in blocks of S$5 per transaction, meaning if you spend S$4.99 you won’t be able to earn any miles on that transaction.
Worth mentioning: Citi Rewards
Citi Rewards is another notable miles card worth mentioning when you order food delivery. It earns you 10X Rewards per S$1 spend (4mpd) on online and shopping purchases, rides with Grab, Gojek and more, online food delivery and on online groceries — basically all online transactions.
This is how you earn miles:
- 1X Base Rewards Point (0.4 mpd)
- 9X Bonus Rewards Points (3.6 mpd)
💡Pro-tip: Pair your Citi Rewards card with the Instarem amaze Card which automatically converts all spending to online spending.
This makes it a great card for overseas spend too as the Instarem Amaze card doesn’t charge you any foreign currency fees and allows you to earn an extra 1 InstaPoint per S$1 (worth 1% cashback) in foreign currency transactions.
The card, however, does have a spending cap bonus rate of S$1,000 per month. Any spending over that earns you a base miles rate of 1X Reward per S$1 spend (0.4 mpd).
For cashback: Maybank Family & Friends Card
On the Maybank Family & Friends Card, you’ll be able to earn 8% cashback on food deliveries, as long as you choose it as one of your 5 preferred spending categories:
- Groceries
- Dining & food delivery
- Transport
- Data communication & online TV streaming
- Retail & pets
- Online fashion
- Entertainment
- Pharmacy
- Sports & sports apparels
- Beauty & wellness
The catch though, is that there is a minimum spend of S$800 to hit per month. There’s also a cashback cap of S$125 in total per calendar month, capped at S$25 per category.
If you don’t hit the minimum spend, exceed the cashback cap or spend on non-selected categories, you’ll earn a base cashback rate of 0.3%.
For GrabFood spend: AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend Card
With the AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend card, there is a dedicated bonus rate that you can earn for all spendings on Grab, including GrabFood.
Earn 3.2 KrisFlyer miles on Grab for every S$1 spent on eligible Grab Singapore transactions, up to S$200 spend in each calendar month. For all other local spend, like Foodpanda and Deliveroo orders, you’ll earn 1.2 mpd, with no miles cap.
Worth mentioning: UOB One
If you’re a big fan of GrabFood, you’ll be thrilled to know that you can get up to 15% cashback (new to UOB card customers) and up to 10% cashback (existing cardmembers) specifically on GrabFood, as well as groceries, shopping, health & beauty, transport & travel and utilities.
There are 3 kinds of cashback UOB offers:
- Base cashback (all cardmembers) — 3.33%
- Additional cashback (all cardmembers)— Min. S$500 / S$1,000 spend, capped at S$100 per month
- Enhanced cashback (new-to-UOB cardmembers only) — Min S$2,000 spend, capped at S$100 per month for the first 2 quarters
The quarterly cashback you earn depends on how much qualifying spend you satisfy each month — S$500, S$1,000 or S$2,000 per month, with a minimum of 5 transactions per statement month.
