Time to score some cheap flights? Google has revealed the top 10 destinations Singaporeans are planning to head to based on Google flight search results. Will you be joining or avoiding the crowds? Read on to find out more

Top Destinations From Singapore (June to August 2023)

  1. Denpasar, Indonesia
  2. Tokyo, Japan
  3. Bangkok, Thailand
  4. London, United Kingdom
  5. Seoul, South Korea
  6. Taipei City, Taiwan
  7. Osaka, Japan
  8. Melbourne, Australia
  9. Paris, France
  10. Sydney, Australia

You probably don't need much introduction to these places, but the main thing to do right now - make good use of the remaining four long weekends of 2023.

Country Managing Director of Google Singapore Ben King says, “Our data shows a preference for destinations closer to home, with eight out of the top 10 destinations favoured by Singaporeans within Asia Pacific.

Sidetracking a little, contrary to the "work hard and play hard" saying, did you know that your brain is designed for regular periods of downtime?

Our brains have two modes of processing, action-oriented and default mode network (DMN). In order for our brains to function optimally, it's important for it to go into DMN mode, which is basically letting your mind go cruising.

Apart from mental recharges, short trips are great as they're less of a logistical nightmare to plan and possibly beneficial to the pocket (compared to long-haul trips).

The Million Dollar Question - What's the Best Time to Get a Good Deal?

[Visual] Before you fly checklistSource: Google

If you've been bitten by the wanderlust bug hard and thinking when's the best time to get cheap flight tickets, Ben has a tip for you.

Based on Google Flights' historical pricing data for trips departing from Singapore, prices tend to dip to their lowest between 4 to 6 months.

The lowest point hovers around 5.5 months before the travel date. Which means if you already have year-end plans in mind, please just go ahead and book now.

Given most Singaporeans' preference to escape to wintry climates, this could be the perfect time to start planning your yearend ski vacation.

Who's Hot Among APAC travellers

It could due to our position in the equator, but there's no denying APAC's popularity as a tourist hotspot. Singapore is also a popular choice among our neighbours, claiming third spot on the list and appearing six times.

From Google's data, 70% of people in Asia Pacific (APAC) are planning to travel within the region, making APAC a hot favourite.

The popularity of the land of the rising sun is undeniable, appearing 22 times in the top 10 lists of countries Google and topping seven of them.

The top destination searches include Japan, Thailand, The United States, The United Kingdom, and South Korea

Southeast Asia is also a popular choice, with a third of APAC travellers looking to visit the region. Unsurprisingly, Bangkok emerged as the top city, followed by Bali.

With travel back in the cards for Singaporeans, sandy beaches and seaside retreats is surely balm for many a weary soul.
