What are Agoda bookings coded as?

But before that, it’s important to determine the merchant category code (MCC) for Agoda, which is coded as MCC 4722 (Travel Agencies and Tour Operators). If you don’t know what an MCC is, this article will help

The short story is an MCC is basically a 4-digit number that credit card issuers use to classify a business and the type of services or goods it offers. It's also used to identify transactions made by consumers.

Knowing the MCCs can help you determine which credit card to use for a particular transaction, helping you to maximise your cashback, rewards, or miles.

Read on to find out the latest Agoda credit card deals and the best credit cards for Agoda bookings.

The main difference between the two is that you can only select one category for the former, while the latter allows you to select up to two eligible categories. Besides that, the UOB Lady’s Card has a bonus rate cap of S$1,000 per calendar month, whereas the bonus rate spent is higher at S$2,000 per calendar month for the UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card.

Don’t be fooled by the name; men are also allowed to apply.

KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card

As the name implies, the KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card is for those who enjoy flying on Singapore Airlines and Scoot. This credit card lets you earn 3 mpd on SIA-related (SIA, Scoot, KrisShop, Kris+) and everyday spending (dining, online food delivery, online, shopping, transport, travel).

However, the 3 mpd earn rate only kicks in once you've spent a minimum of S$800 on SIA-related categories in a year (excluding Kris+), otherwise, the earn rate will be 1.2 mpd.

That said, it can be achievable if you fly with SIA or Scoot often as you have a year to achieve it.

The KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card also has an uncapped earn rate for bonus miles, so you can charge as much as you want without worry about breaching the cap. Also, there's no miles conversion fee, as your KrisFlyer miles will be credited directly to your KrisFlyer Account.

HSBC TravelOne Credit Card

The HSBC TravelOne credit card will give you 1.2 mpd on local spend, and 2.4 mpd for foreign currency transactions. As such, using this card for your Agoda bookings will let you earn air miles to offset the cost of your flight.

DBS Live Fresh Credit Card

The DBS Live Fresh Card is currently offering 7% off hotel bookings on Agoda. Note that the booking period is valid till 31 Dec 2025 and the stay period is valid till 31 Mar 2026.

The discount is also only valid for hotels that have the “Promotion Eligible” banner on the search results page and “Pre paid”, “Pay now” and “Book Now, Pay later” room types only. So, keep an eye out for these banners! Find out more on their promotion page.

As a whole, the DBS Live Fresh Card offers up to 6% cashback on local and overseas shopping spend and transport spend, which means that you can bring the card along with you during your out-of-the-country trip and still earn cashback.

Note that the cashback is capped at S$70 per month, a split of S$50 for shopping spend and S$20 on transport spend. It also has a minimum spend of S$800. But, if you're not confident you'll meet the requirement, this card has a 0.3% unlimited base cashback rate on all other eligible spend.
