Meanwhile, COVID-19 coverage, which is also an optional benefit, is only available for single-trip plans. Frequently asked questions about DirectAsia travel insurance
Can I purchase travel insurance after I have already left for my trip?
No, you must purchase travel insurance before your date of departure. If purchased after your trip, you may not be able to claim for events that occur before your trip. Your insurer may also elect to deny coverage for your entire trip. Hence, it’s best to purchase your travel policy as early as possible, or once you’ve confirmed your trip.
What is DirectAsia's cancellation policy?
For annual plans, do inform DirectAsia at least 7 days before your trip. The refunded premium will be pro-rated subject to a S$10 cancellation fee. For single-trip plans, you can cancel the policy anytime before it is slated to commence. You will also incur a S$10 cancellation fee.
What is DirectAsia's refund policy?
You will receive your refund via PayNow or bank transfer within 14 days of cancellation. Refunds are calculated based on the following formula:
Premium Refund = [Premium x (Unexpired Period of Insurance (Days) / Original Period of Insurance (Days))] - Applicable Cancellation Fee (S$10).
Can I extend my DirectAsia policy while I am already overseas?
We offer automatic policy extensions regardless of annual or single-trip cover, in cases involving delayed flights or late arrival due to injuries sustained overseas
Which countries are excluded from DirectAsia's travel insurance coverage?
DirectAsia covers travel to all countries except Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Nepal, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Somalia and Yemen.
What does "Cancel For Any Reason" mean and what does it cover?
Cancel For Any Reason coverage extends your Trip Cancellation protection to include other reasons typically not covered. Instead of only being able to male a claim in the event of a serious illness or death in the family, you'll also be eligible for reimbursement if the concert you're travelling to attend is cancelled.
