Types of Coverage Provided by Direct Asia’s Travel Insurance

Medical Expenses

Direct Asia covers medical expenses for treatments received overseas if an injury or illness occurs during your trip. This also extends to treatments in Singapore sought within 48 hours after your return.

Medical Evacuation and Repatriation

If medical emergencies arise that require you to be moved to another facility or repatriated to Singapore, Direct Asia Travel Insurance covers the additional costs.

Compassionate Visit

If you are hospitalised for at least five consecutive days and are travelling alone, Direct Asia will cover the travel expenses for a family member or friend to be by your side. This coverage continues until you can either resume your journey or return home.

Death and Permanent Disability

In the unfortunate event of severe injury or death during your trip, Direct Asia Travel Insurance provides compensation to you or your legal representatives. This benefit covers loss of limbs, sight, or life, ensuring financial support is in place for your beneficiaries.

Personal Possessions, Money and Travel Documents

Direct Asia will reimburse you for the loss, theft, or accidental damage of your personal belongings, including money and travel documents, provided you can present necessary proof like purchase receipts to support your travel insurance claim.

Trip Cancellation and Curtailment, Trip Postponement, Reluctance to Travel Following an Act of Terrorism and Travel Delay

This coverage includes reimbursement for non-recoverable expenses due to trip cancellations, curtailments, or postponements caused by injuries, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, pandemics, or insolvency of travel providers. Additionally, you are also covered if there are significant travel delays, or if terrorist activities deter you from travelling after your coverage starts.

Rental Car Excess

Planning an overseas road trip? You might want to consider international car insurance. If a rental car you hired from a licensed agency overseas gets lost or damaged, Direct Asia Travel Insurance can cover up to specified limits, helping you mitigate unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

Personal Liability

This coverage allows you to claim expenses for legal liabilities in case you accidentally cause injury to someone or damage their property while abroad.

Travel Agency Insolvency

This covers you in the event your travel agency becomes insolvent, covering your non-refundable costs up to the amount set by your policy.

Additional Coverage Provided by Direct Asia Travel Insurance

Direct Asia Travel Insurance includes additional coverage options for extreme sports and activities. Some examples Direct Asia considers as extreme sports and activities include skiing, diving, kayaking, skydiving, go karting and more. Conditions for coverage require that the equipment be used under appropriate supervision and settings as outlined in the policy details.

Direct Asia Travel Insurance Refund & Cancellation

Learn how to cancel your travel insurance policy with Direct Asia, as well as the conditions for refund and cancellation.

A single trip policy can be cancelled at any time before the insurance period starts by you or by Direct Asia by providing a notice of cancellation to the other party.

In the case of annual policies, a 7-day written notice is required from either side to cancel. However, you will be required to return the balance of premium for the whole policy. Direct Asia will compute your refund according to this formula:

Premium refund = Premium x unexpired days of period of insurance / Original days of period of insurance

You will not receive any refunds of premium if:

  • You have made a claim with your Direct Asia Travel Insurance
  • You have not returned Direct Asia the certificate of insurance
  • You owe Direct Asia any outstanding money
  • The refund amount is lesser or equal to the cancellation fee of $10 (inclusive of GST)

For both per trip and annual policies, the minimum amount for refund is $10 (inclusive of GST). Refunds are processed exclusively via PayNow or bank transfer.
