Allied World Assurance Travel Insurance Review (2020)

The cover for loss of frequent flyer points is one of Allied World Travel Protector’s unique selling point - good for Air Miles Redemption Lovers.

Pros:

  • Unlimited Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation.

Cons:
  • No benefit claimable for hiking/trekking in remote areas, mountaineering requiring the use of ropes or guides, cliff or rock climbing
  • No pre-existing medical or physical conditions cover.
  • No coverage for participation in professional sports.

Loss of Redemption from any Personal Loyalty or Rewards Programmes
For claim arising from loss of travel and/or accommodation expenses paid in advance (includes redemption from any personal loyalty or rewards programmes) by the insured and not recoverable from any sources, the company will pay up to the specified limit applicable.
Home Protection
Allied World will indemnify, reinstate or repair against physical loss or damage within your place of residence that was left vacant for the full duration of trip and which loss or damage was caused by fire or theft by forcible entry.
Quarantine Allowance (Outside of Singapore/ In Singapore)
If the Insured Person, while on a Trip is placed under Quarantine/ while on a Trip and upon return to Singapore is immediately placed under Quarantine, Allied World will pay $50/ day up to the specified limit applicable to the Selected Plan.

Plan 1
Allied World Plan 1, is good for travellers who are looking for bargain benefits. In terms of travel inconveniences, Allied World Plan 1 stands out among the basic plans in the market, by offering a benefit limit of $1000 for Baggage Delay and Travel Delay each (at $250 for first six consecutive hours of baggage delay and $20 for subsequent each and every full hour). Rental Vehicle Excess cover as a bonus benefit, capped at $250. Personal Accident Coverage is at $150,000.
Plan 2
If you plan to drive and rent a vehicle for a road trip, Allied World Plan 2 offers Rental Vehicle Excess cover as a bonus benefit capped at $500. In terms of Baggage Delay and Travel Delay, the benefit limit is still at $1000 each (capped at $250 for first six consecutive hours of baggage delay and $20 for subsequent each and every full hour). Personal Accident Coverage is at $250,000.
Plan 3
Allied World Plan 3 is the one with the highest limit out of the three types of plan, with Rental Vehicle Excess cover (as bonus benefit) capped at $750, Baggage Delay and Travel delay benefit limit is still at $1000 each (capped at $250 for first six consecutive hours of baggage delay and $20 for subsequent each and every full hour) and Personal Accident Coverage is at $500,000.
