  • Best Travel Insurance For Flight Delay: AXA Insurance

Flight delays are unplanned and unavoidable at times. Are you adequately covered?
According to the report "Study: Changi Airport, SIA facing more flight delays" from the Strait Times in 2017, the on-time performance for airlines in Changi Airport is 81.3%. This means passengers in 2 out of 10 flights had experienced some flight delay. However, this ratio drops even lower in some places across the region such as Dubai, Hong Kong and Korea. Imagine your anxiety, frustration and difficulty if you are forced to replan travel arrangements, or worse, left stranded in a foreign airport.

Travel delays can be a source of significant inconvenience. However, reading this means you are getting yourself prepared. If flight delay coverage is the most important for your trip, AXA is the best bet. AXA comprehensive cover has 19.8% more coverage than other insurers’ combined average. Here are some pros and cons of AXA’s Travel Insurance Plan plan.

  • Best Travel Insurance For Pre-Existing Medical Conditions: MSIG Insurance

Best coverage claim benefits for pre-existing injuries and illnesses.
If you’re like most of us, you don't really read the policy document cover to cover. But if you do, you’ll realise most policies do not cover claims resulting from pre-existing medical condition. What does it really mean?

It means that if you have to cancel your trip due to a major asthma attack, chances are your claim will not be successful. Common pre-existing conditions include eczema, hypertension and diabetes. If you have any pre-existing condition, it’s best to get the pre-ex plans to be adequately covered.

At present, we have three insurers with this kind of coverage. They are NTUC Income, MSIG and Tiq. We chose MSIG to top the list because unlike NTUC, MSIG does not have a co-pay condition if you cancel, postpone, shortening and disrupt your trip due to your Pre-existing medical condition. And compared to Tiq, MSIG has a higher claim limit for their mid-tier and top-shelf plans.

    Pros:
    • Coverage for maternity-related overseas medical expenses for medical expenses incurred overseas due to pregnancy-related illnesses such as nausea and giddiness.
    • Coverage for adventurous activities like bungee jumping, hot-air ballooning, skydiving, helmet diving, paragliding, white-water rafting and more.
    • Coverage for fraudulent Use of Credit Card, Credit Card Benefit Outstanding Balance (for Elite and Premier Plans)
    Cons:
    • No benefit claimable for losses of customer loyalty points used to pay for any part of Your Trip
    • War (whether declared or not), civil war, acts of foreign enemies, rebellion, military or usurped power are excluded.
    • Racing (other than on foot) or any sports or games in a professional capacity or for remuneration are excluded.
