Invite better luck and fortune this year by depositing money into your savings account on 4 February 2020.
Chinese New Year is a time when feasting, traditions and superstitions take centerstage, and Li Chun is one of the many traditions that Singaporeans have adopted over the years. Remember the unending queues at ATM depositing machines or banks on a seemingly random day during CNY last year and the year before? Yes, that’s Li Chun (立春).
Starting at 5pm on 4 February till 5pm on 5 February 2020, depositing money into your bank account on Li Chun symbolises steady income throughout the year. So, if you’re hoping for some luck and fortune in 2020, head to the bank and deposit some money into your savings account during these auspicious times.
Regardless of your Chinese zodiac sign, the most auspicious period to deposit money is considered to be 5 February, between 9am to 11am (except Rat, Dragon, Snake and Monkey). However, the inauspicious periods to deposit money also fall on 5 February, mainly between 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 5pm.
Apart from just depositing money into your account on Li Chun, it is said that (with some patience and nimble fingers) eggs are able to stand upright on a flat surface. Many believe that this is because the change in the sun and moon’s alignment on this day changes the gravitational force around us. Have you given this a try yet?
Additionally, if you’re still deciding on what to wear and specifically what colours to wear when visiting on Chinese New Year, here’s a list of lucky colors based on your Chinese Zodiac:
Rat: Grey and brown
Ox: Red, orange, white and gold
Tiger: Grey, brown and green
Rabbit: Grey and brown
Dragon: White and gold
Snake: Grey, brown, white and gold
Horse: Red, orange, grey and brown
Goat: Green, grey and brown
