Make your digital SingapoRediscovers Vouchers work harder for you and get more value for your spending in the process.

In light of COVID-19 travel restrictions, Singapore’s tourism industry has been hit hard. To provide a much-needed economic boost, the Government has rolled out the digital SingapoRediscovers Vouchers (SRV) scheme to encourage us to rediscover our city and #supportlocal.

Singaporeans aged 18 and above as of 2020 will be entitled to S$100 in Vouchers. This can be spent on various STB-approved local tours, attractions and staycations. Eligible Singaporeans with family members under 18 can enjoy S$10 subsidies for child/youth tickets, for up to six tickets per person.

For those who haven’t used your Vouchers (and are undecided about what to do), you’ve come to the right place. Cash in and save on your next Singapoliday, with hacks to maximise your S$100 digital SRVs and fuel your wanderlust.

Have fun, explore responsibly, and remember to abide by safety measures!

Do note that due to Phase 3 (Heightened Alert), attractions, staycations and tours may be subject to change. Be sure to double-check prices of your chosen experience and/or contact the merchant directly to inquire. Information in this article is accurate as of 9 July 2021.

Hacks to maximise your S$100 SingapoRediscovers Vouchers

1. Book your choice of attraction/tour/staycation on a weekday, during off-peak period

Take a couple days of leave to enjoy a staycation or a full day out at a local attraction without the crowd and queues. Pro tip — Hotels usually provide cheaper rates on weekdays, and certain attractions also offer lower rates for off-peak periods.

For example, a two-night stay in a Deluxe Sea View Room (twin) with breakfast for two at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa on Fridays and Saturdays will cost you S$850, but only S$761 when you book on a Monday. That’s almost S$100 in savings!

Do take note that not all weekdays are automatically considered off-peak periods. Avoid public holidays and school holidays, such as the upcoming ones in September and mid-November to end-December.

Recommended attraction to go during off-peak periods: ArtScience Museum, from S$16, from Traveloka

Enjoy a day out with your family or friends by exploring the exciting exhibitions at the ArtScience Museum. From only S$16 per ticket, there’s sure to be some leftover SRVs to spend on other activities.

As popular exhibitions like Future World and Virtual Realms: Videogames Transformed can get pretty crowded over the weekends, we’d recommend you to take a day off and go during off-peak periods. Not only will there be fewer people around, there will also be more breathing space and possibly shorter waiting time, translating to a more enjoyable experience!

2. Not enough Vouchers to offset the purchase? Pay with discounted Klook gift cards.

If you’re looking to purchase an activity that costs over S$100, consider Klook’s e-gift card promotion. Offset the first S$100 using your SRVs, and enjoy an extra S$10 off or S$20 off when you purchase a S$50 or S$100 Klook gift card, respectively. This deal is only applicable when you pay with your OCBC credit card.

Recommended tour: Seven Deadly Sins Half Day Dessert Tour in Singapore, S$100 per person from Klook

If you have a sweet tooth, this dessert tour is perfect for you. Join the ultimate Singapore dessert tour with more than 10 tastings. Explore dessert-friendly stores, hear stories of seven deadly sins and enjoy both sweet and savoury food and drinks.

If you’re thinking of going with your family or a group of four, opt for the Private Tour Voucher with Surprise Gifts for S$400.

Use one person’s SRV to make the total S$300, followed by Klook’s S$100 gift card (which you will pay only S$80 for). Pay the balance with your favourite credit card for miles/cashback/rewards.

The entire experience would only cost you and your gang S$280 in cash, which amounts to S$70 per person. That’s 30% off the stated price!

These gift card credits can be used on all SRV-eligible activities ranging from local staycation packages to unique experiences on Klook.

Do note to always read the fine prints and make sure that your chosen activity qualifies for both the SRV and Klook gift card redemption. Doing so will ensure that you do not spend extra money on top-ups for non-SRV-eligible listings.

3. Pay with your credit card for additional discounts

After you’ve offset the first S$100 with the SRVs, you can be smart about how you pay for the balance. This can be done using the right credit card for payment, which can not only get you additional cash discounts but also concurrently earn miles, cashback and rewards.

Recommended tour: SG Hike, Eat & Sunset @ Keppel, from S$50 from Changi Recommends
How to save: Pay for this tour with your DBS/POSB card for 10% off, no minimum spend required.

Trek to the hidden trail to explore the mysterious WWII bunker, Japanese Tomb and 'the forgotten reservoir' in Keppel Hill. Did you know that you can also enjoy a scrumptious dinner post-hike? At just S$45 more, the package with the added dinner option (S$95) allows you to dine at Keppel Island with a sunset view. This option is definitely value-for-money in our opinion! The tour ends with a leisure evening walk at Keppel Bay.

Recommended tour: Singapore 1-Day Durian Tour, S$157.90 from Trip.com
How to save: Make use of DBS/POSB discount: $4 off with min. spend of S$30 or S$15 off with min. spend of S$100.

Hard core durian lovers, listen up because this one’s for you. Together with a local guide, learn the secret techniques used by durian farmers and sellers to achieve different preferred flavours, as well as how to select the perfect durian for you and your loved ones.

For only S$157.90 per adult, you’ll get to enjoy:

  • A seven-hour tour with a professional guide
  • Land transfers
  • Durian buffet with light refreshments
  • Hands-on activities, such as durian mochi making

It’s super worth it, because durians can get pretty expensive. Case in point: 550g of Mao Shan Wang (without husks) costs approximately $45. Add in the workshop, a seven-hour tour and land transfers, we’d say it’s a pretty good deal.

4. Hunt for staycation deals that include freebies

Why settle for room-only packages when there are many hotels out there that offer complimentary add-ons, such as lounge access, free upgrades, late check-out, breakfast and/or 100% dining credits?

One hotel that provides such fabulous deals is PARKROYAL on Beach Road - Exclusive Club Retreat, from S$433.14 per night. This package comes with a myriad of perks:

  • Choice of Club breakfast served via in-room dining or Ala carte buffet breakfast at Ginger for two persons
  • Evening complimentary refreshment and cocktails served via in-room dining service
  • Daily curated Local Experience Workshops by in-house Culinary
  • Choice of four-course set lunch or dinner at Si Chuan Dou Hua for two people
  • City Tour tickets for two persons (weekends stay only)

Book your staycation with GlobalTix to get a S$5 foodpanda voucher, and use it to pay for other meals during your stay!

If your staycay costs at least S$200, be sure to book with Klook to get a free S$50 Klook Hotel voucher for your next booking when you use at least $50 of your SingapoRediscovers Vouchers.

Where and how can I redeem these Vouchers?

The S$100 digital Vouchers are issued in denominations of S$10 and your Singpass account is required to redeem them. These digital Vouchers are now valid until 31 December 2021, to allow you ample time to use them and rediscover Singapore safely.

You can redeem your digital Vouchers through STB’s five authorised booking partners, namely Changi Recommends, GlobalTix, Klook, Traveloka and Trip.com. There are tons of SRV-eligible staycations, attractions and activities ranging from ghost tours, outdoor escape rooms and even food and wine trails.

All eligible Singaporeans are also entitled to S$10 subsidies for up to six child/youth tickets on attraction and tours, for family members under the age of 18.

Here's how you can easily redeem your S$100 SRVs:

For those who need help with making these digital transactions, physical counters have been set up island-wide by the authorised booking partners to provide assistance.

Beware of scams and unauthorised booking partners’ websites. Remember not to share your Singpass login information and One-Time Password (OTP) with anyone.

Conclusion

There are tons of vouchers, promo codes and hacks that you can use with your SRVs, so go ahead and use this opportunity to take a good break. Just remember to explore responsibly and abide by safety measures. As usual, masks on always. Have fun!
