List of UOB Travel Insurance Exclusions

UOB’s InsureTravel does not cover pre-existing medical conditions. If you have an ongoing health issue, it won't pay for treatment if that flares up on your trip. You need a plan like Tiq Travel Insurance that covers pre-existing conditions.

InsureTravel also has limits on sports coverage. Its adventure activity insurance won't cover you for professional or income-earning sports/games. But leisure activities like scuba diving and hiking are covered, as long as they're conducted by licensed organisers and under the supervision of qualified instructors.

Additionally, all airborne activities are excluded. The plan won’t cover things like skydiving and hot air ballooning.

Pros & Cons Of UOB Travel Insurance

Pros of UOB Travel Insurance

  • Comprehensive Coverage Options: UOB InsureTravel offers extensive protection that includes not just the basic travel inconveniences and medical expenses but also covers less common issues such as credit card fraud, personal liability, and even alternative medical treatments like Traditional Chinese Medicine.
  • COVID-19 Coverage Included: In response to the ongoing pandemic, UOB has integrated COVID-19 coverage at no additional cost, covering medical expenses and trip cancellations related to the virus, which is a significant advantage in today's travel climate.
  • Competitive Premiums: Compared to other travel insurance products on the market, UOB InsureTravel is competitively priced, offering good value for the coverage provided, especially for the more comprehensive plan options.
  • Flexible Plan Options: With three different levels of coverage (Basic, Essential, and Preferred), travellers can choose a plan that best fits their budget and coverage needs, making it suitable for a wide range of travellers, from budget solo travellers to families on extensive international trips.
  • High Limits on Claims: UOB offers high limits on claims, particularly in areas like medical evacuation and repatriation, which can be crucial during emergencies abroad.

Cons of UOB Travel Insurance

  • Exclusions on Pre-existing Conditions: Like many travel insurance policies, UOB InsureTravel does not cover pre-existing medical conditions, which might be a drawback for travellers with ongoing health issues.
  • Limited Sports Coverage: While the policy covers a range of leisure activities, there are exclusions, particularly for professional or competitive sports and certain high-risk activities, which might not make it suitable for adventure-seeking travellers.
  • Geographical Coverage Limitations: Certain plans may have geographical limitations or higher premiums for specific destinations, which could limit options for global travellers.
  • No Coverage for Lost or Stolen Cash: Unlike some competitors, UOB does not cover losses of cash, which could be a concern for travellers carrying cash during their journeys.

Understanding these pros and cons will help potential customers make an informed decision about whether UOB InsureTravel fits their specific travel insurance needs.
